CONNECT welcomes the NASA Student Launch Competition Team from the United States Military Academy at West Point

To-date twenty one graduates of the United States Military Academy at West Point have been selected for astronaut training by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Helping to fuel that number is the NASA Student Launch Competition Team. The research based program encourages students to explore aeronautical design, build flying models, and ultimately fly payloads in an eight month national competition.

Sharing their love of flying, design, and space exploration, the USMA Cadets participating in the program joined the students of the CONNECT after school program on Friday, September 16th to introduce rocketry to the elementary and middle school students buy building straw rockets.

After a short introduction to rocketry, students built their straw rockets and went straight into competition. Whose rocket would go the furthest? Simple in design, but inspirational in delivery.

Thank you West Point NASA Student Launch Competition Team! Cannot wait to see you back at CONNECT!
