CONNECT celebrates Highland Falls Fort Montgomery Central School District’s New Mascot

Highland Falls – Fort Montgomery Central School District recently announced its new mascot — it is a Raptor! To celebrate and learn more about Raptor’s the CONNECT after school program welcomed Jonathan Wood’s Raptor Project to teach our students more about these remarkable birds!

Jonathan’s team brought ten impressive birds of prey to the Highland Falls Intermediate School on Friday, September 9th. Students were amazed by their size and abilities, especially when a large white owl circled the auditorium above.

“Have you always been so cool?” One student asked Christine McDonald, Director of the CONNECT program. Taken aback she just smiled in delight at the student’s happiness in seeing these remarkable birds of prey that included hawks, eagles, owls, and falcons.

The West Point Association of Graduates sponsors the CONNECT after school program. Through the generosity of the gifts of the USMA graduates students saw their new mascot up close and learned what makes raptors different and why their new mascot is indeed the one who is “so cool!”
