ARMY-NAVY STEM Challenge

Not many students long to get up early on a Saturday morning but a group of CONNECT kids did! They were invited to the Army-Navy STEM Challenge this year hosted by the West Point Center for Leadership & Diversity in STEM at United States Military Academy.

Coached by the Cadets of the United States Military Academy and the United States Naval Academy the students were divided into teams to take part in three challenges, building and programing a robot, bridge construction, and the Turning Tumble computational coding (a series of puzzle challenges to effectively understand what computers do).

Students spent the whole day with the USMA and USNA Cadets, moving from one challenge to the next. In the end it was one of our NAVY CONNECT Teams that won the challenge, sending the trophy to Annapolis until next year. For our CONNECT students however everyone was a winner having the wonderful opportunity to learn with fun challenges and spending a day with the USMA and USNA STEM mentors.
